Bringing Donations to the Library

Currently donations are accepted through our Drive-Thru service. Small donations of a couple items can be placed in the cat-shaped drop box inside the lower floor entrance. Boxed or bagged items can be dropped off anytime during Drive-Thru hours:

Due to limitations in storage and staffing, we ask that donations be limited to three (3) bags or boxes of books, each weighing no more than 30 pounds each (that's about 20 hardcover books).

The following new or gently used items are accepted:

At this time we cannot accept:

Books (as well as newspapers and magazines) that need to be recycled can be deposited in the blue Lions Club paper collection box near the Library's outside bookdrop and Drive-Thru service area.

Please do not place donations in the bookdrop or leave them unattended outside of Drive-Thru hours.

Please do not place donated materials in the inside or outside book returns.

Donations are Tax Deductible

At your request, Library staff will provide you with a receipt that you may fill out for tax purposes. The Library staff is not qualified to determine the value of your donation. It will be up to you to assign a value for tax purposes.

The Friends of the Longview Public Library also financial contributions through GiveButter.

What does the Longview Public Library do with donations?

All donations are greatly appreciated. Some donated materials are added to the Library's collections. Anything that cannot be added to the collection is sold at the Friends of the Library book sales or on the Internet. The money raised by sales goes to fund programming and to purchase other library materials.
